Keybank has told me that they will be migrating my online banking from their current classic interface to a new one that , unlike the present one, does not have the ability to categorize transactions (taxes, entertainment, etc, etc) and generate reports.
They assure me that after the migration I will have access to a linked/synced HelloWallet account which does have that ability.
What Keybank has NOT been able to reassure me is that when my accounts are synced to and viewed at HelloWallet that the approximately 300 categories I have created and used in the old keybank interface will also sync over.
Can you reassure me of that?
(I will be sorely disappointed if I have to manually re-create the categories in Hello Wallet.)
Also: Will I be able to download Hello Wallet data into Quicken?
I can’t test/answer/determine the answers to these questions by experimenting because I can’t create the free linked Hello Wallet account until AFTER keybank migrates me to their new interface.
And that would be too late for me to discover the reality.
Unfortunately, the categories you have created in your KeyBank account will not transfer over to HelloWallet. However, you can try bulk-editing you transactions to categorize them correctly. Please see the article here for more information on how to do so. Another option is to utilize the transactions search bar, by typing in a keyword for several transactions, then categorizing them all.
In terms of downloading your data into Quicken, it should work if Quicken will allow you to import HelloWallet’s .CSV file. However, I can’t guarantee it will work, as it requires the layout of the data to be the same as ours.
