Last month, with our son starting school, we purchased a third car with savings. This month, we will begin monthly tuition payments from his 529. Of course, these expenses are not covered by our monthly income, so they are making dramatic negative changes in our wellness score. Would best practice be to check the "Ignore in budget" box for these expenses, or be more chill about the dropped wellness score? Everything in life isn't covered by monthly income!
This is a great question! The HelloWallet application is designed to give you options in this matter. It all depends how you would like to see your finances being tracked. One option you could take would be to create a bill/budget item for the monthly tuition being paid. You can also create budget items for the one time purchases in your budget, such as the purchase of your third car. The way you track your expenses should be tailored to your preference.
